The VCC Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program provides pioneering services and is one of the leaders in North Florida in the provision of services for children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse and/or sexual behavior problems. VCC staff have successfully evaluated and treated thousands of children and adolescents with sexual issues including sexual acting out, child-on-child sexual abuse and sexual abuse.

VCC provides specialized treatment for children, adolescents and adults who have experienced various forms of trauma (e.g., abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence, etc.) and who need specialized treatment. VCC has been providing trauma therapy for over 15 years and offers a range of services dedicated to helping survivors of trauma including specialized assessments, treatment and support services. VCC clinicians provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Psychotherapy, both of which are evidenced-based and highly effective for resolving emotional difficulties caused by disturbing, difficult, frightening and traumatic life experiences.

The Adoption Success Program (ASP) provides education and support to prospective and post adoptive families and children regarding the social, emotional, and cultural challenges involved in the adoption process. The critical goal of this program is to increase the long term success rate and quality of care in permanent adoptive placements. The focus is to help clients learn and utilize skills necessary to cope with the grief and loss that precedes adoption, to build trusting and supportive relationships and to transition into a long term, loving and successful family. All adoptive services are provided by Licensed Clinicians who are also Adoption Competent Counselors due to completing over 40 hours of specialized training through the State of Florida and Rutgers University.

The VCC Domestic Violence Program provides a comprehensive approach to address multiple aspects of Domestic Violence (DV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The primary goal is to help participants understand the dynamics of their relationships and gain healthy perspectives to help stop future aggression and violence. The VCC Batterers Intervention Program (BIP) fulfills all Court Ordered Requirements and is a comprehensive 26-week class based on the Duluth Power and Control Model. Other services provided also include a 6 hour Effects of Domestic Violence on Children Course as well as 26-week Nonviolence Curriculum for Women’s Group that fulfills Court Ordered Requirements. All services provided as part of the VCC Domestic Violence Program are facilitated by specially trained and licensed mental health counselors.
